DUSK ON THE DESERT III

8 x 10, oil on canvas, $675. including 4" frame

I just went crazy over this scene, found in the hills above Apache Lake in Arizona.   After a very successful long day of photography east of Phoenix, I arrived near Roosevelt Dam to spend the night.  After checking into my motel, there was still some light left outside so I climbed back into my car and went in search of some sunset scenes..... I found this area in a remote area off the main road.    The heavens opened up and presented me with the most beautiful sunset I had ever seen.... the reflected colors onto the desert floor took my breath away!!

After arriving back home, I began a series of paintings from these slides, all slightly different, especially in sizing for each canvas.  This one is # 3 and is a small 8 x 10, but the glowing colors still resonate throughout the painting.  It is framed in a large, subdued 4" frame, which makes the entire package around 12" x 14".

This painting is being held in my studio for the time being, until my next trip out to Arizona in Spring, 08, when I will be looking for another gallery or two.... or I might decide to keep this one!!!
