BETWEEN THE MOUNTAINS AND THE PLAINS

24" X 36", oil on canvas

$2950., includes frame

Travelling with two artist friends to Ruidoso one year, we stayed in the area for a week... our day trips went north, south, east and west of Ruidoso.... every day was spent doing plein-aire and photographing the beautiful hills, valley, deserts, and mountainous regions of the area.  This scene was found while heading down the mountain towards the desert, about 40 miles below.  It's amazing how the terrain changed in such a short distance... but then, this made every day more exciting than the first.

The yellow flowering bushes are called "Rabbitbrush", and indeed, I was tempted to paint a little jack rabbit hidden in the shrubbery.... but I decided the scene was lovely enough just as it is!  I hope you like it.
